A holistic movement workshop that integrates somatic practices and the Five Elements theory to explore the connection between body, healing, and creativity, guiding participants toward deeper awareness and expressive transformation.

Where: Tictac Art Centre, Brussels, Belgium

When: May 25 – 29 | 14:30 – 18:30

In this workshop, we explore the moving body through dance and Shiatsu – Japanese pressure-point bodywork – to support the natural flow of energy and open new creative pathways. Drawing on the healing principles of Shiatsu and improvisation inspired by the Five Elements (Earth, Water, Wood, Metal, and Fire), participants awaken both body and imagination.

According to Eastern philosophy, energy travels through pathways called meridians, each connected to an element and its qualities – such as grounding, fluidity, adaptability, warmth, and compassion. Through guided self-Shiatsu, participants learn the physical locations of the meridians and how to balance energy within the body. This energetic awareness is then extended into movement using imagery and improvisation to embody the different elemental qualities.

By integrating bodywork, movement, and creative exploration, participants discover new choreographic possibilities individually and collectively. Ori approaches teaching as a dialogue, using imagery and humor to help participants connect personally, find balance, and access their unique creative voice.

The workshop is open to everyone – from curious beginners to professional dancers, and no previous experience in Shiatsu or dance is required.

Ori Flomin is an internationally active choreographer, performer, and teacher whose work bridges dance, somatics, and healing practices; he has created and presented his work worldwide and teaches extensively across Europe, the U.S., and Asia, collaborating with diverse artists and communities.
