On Sunday, May 10, 2026, from 3 to 7 pm at Base in Milan, Italy, don’t miss the open class for absolute beginners held by Fernando Suels Mendoza, a long-time dancer with Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. Participants will be encouraged to explore their own movement by integrating it with everyday gestures, voice, and words, developing a personal approach to the creative process, while the boundaries of the dance class are broken down to provide a moment of fun and sharing.
Fernando Suels Mendoza was born in 1968 in Caracas, Venezuela. In 1987, he enrolled at José Ledezma’s Escuela de Danza de Caracas, then moved to the Folkwang School in Essen, founded by Kurt Jooss. In 1995, Pina Bausch made him a full-time member of her ensemble, and he has been a dancer at Tanztheater Wuppertal until 2018. He has been involved in the creation of 14 pieces by Pina Bausch and has taken on roles in many more pieces.
