A DEEP BUTOH RESEARCH PROJECT

Eight days of radical Butoh practice, with 5 choreographers and 30–40 dancers.

8 hours of daily training, nightly jams and collaborative creation. An intense, challenging, and radical experience where dance comes first.

Five choreographers will guide forty participants through a dynamic and well-structured journey.

The first phase is dedicated to collective training, where each choreographer shares their own specific techniques and distinctive style. Participants are exposed to diverse movement languages, enriching their physical awareness and artistic versatility.

The second phase focuses on choreographic creation.Working from a theme proposed by the choreographers, participants develop material supported by their external guidance and feedback.

The workshop concludes with an informal sharing moment, offering space to present and celebrate the creative paths explored together.

This workshop is designed for dancers who are curious, open, and eager to deepen their Butoh practice. It is for those who wish to experience different techniques and artistic voices within a shared creative environment.

Open to all levels, it welcomes participants ready to challenge themselves not only in learning new techniques, but also in engaging fully with the creative process.

It is for artists who want to question, explore, and push their boundaries — embracing creation as a space of risk, research, and growth.
