The educational program of the 16th Dance Days Chania aims to strengthen, empower, and provide technical training, as well as to cultivate active bodies capable of thinking, questioning, feeling, and communicating through physical narratives.

14 international guest artists, through 12 workshops and masterclasses, will share their technical, research, and creative tools with the aim of conveying their influences, inspiration, and an honest glimpse into their world of movement.
Flying low, martial arts, parkour, capoeira, as well as movement traditions of Africa and the African diaspora share the same space with a repertoire of internationally recognized works, improvisation, floorwork, house dance, acrobatics, and compositional tools. This year’s Dance Days Chania workshop program, both explosive and introspective, promises a “refreshing dive” into pleasure, body awareness, and the expansion of artistic self-knowledge.

The workshops and masterclasses are addressed to professionals, students of dance and theater schools, amateurs, and anyone who wants to get to know and connect with their own body and interact creatively with other bodies, discovering elements of the world of dance.
This year’s event includes performances, workshops, masterclasses (“Meet the choreographers” section), “New Creators and Public Space” section, an “Open Studio” section (sharing of works in progress), dance film screenings, cartoon screenings in collaboration with the 10th Chaniartoon festival, presentations from the educational program “My Body ‘Speaks’,” a transnational artistic residency, and other events throughout the city.
“Dance Days Chania” is organized by the “Syn-Kinisi” Association of Expressive Dance since 2011 with the voluntary work of its members and receives the EFFE Label certification from 2017 to 2027 by the EFA. The Municipality of Chania is currently co-organizing the 16th edition of the event, while supporters and partners include the School of Architecture at the Technical University of Crete, the “Chaniartoon” International Cartoon Festival, the Chania Municipality’s Primary Education Department, and the SEAD Dance Academy.
