A two week Contact Improvisation Intensive Workshop with Sasha Dodo and Dolores Dewhurst Marks.

Where: Chiang Dao, Northern Thailand

When: 10 – 24 November 2026

Deadline for applications: 1 November 2026

Gravitude offers an in-depth introduction to the fundamental propositions and principles of Contact Improvisation, approaching it as an inquiry based, transformative practice and cutting edge art form.

For those motivated to study the craft of improvisation and to practice responding creatively to subtle and radical change on the dance floor and in the wider context of their lives.

An integral part of the program will be
focused on learning how to learn; beginning
with familiarising ourselves with the underlying
approach and attitude towards learning that is essential to the practice.

It includes the practice of embodied inquiry,
agendaless listening, trust in direct experience,
cultivation of curiosity and wonder, permission
to experiment and improvise, collaborative
and mutually supportive attitude, deepening
of understanding through writing and sharing with others.

The workshop is an access point to the field of practice, connecting to its history and development, resources and wider community. Reflecting on Contact Improvisation as a practice/art form rooted in ancient eastern philosophies, martial arts, meditative and contemplative traditions.

The program will include immersive practice in the natural environment both as a research and training, attuning the senses and perception to cultivate awareness and
responsiveness in unpredictable terrains. Exploring the bodies’ innate intelligence in contact with gravity and other, while actively engaging with various elements and their relationships.
