This BUTOH and BODYWEATHER Intensive explores human dance potential through structured exercises, improvisational scores, and deep physical listening.

Where: KFTS -The Copenhagen Film and Theatre School, Copenhagen, Denmark

When: 25 July – 1 August 2026

Deadline for applications: 10 July

This BUTOH and BODYWEATHER Intensive explores human dance potential through structured exercises, improvisational scores, and deep physical listening.

The work emphasises clear, embodied communication alongside a deepening understanding of nervous system responses across varying contexts. This awareness supports grounded, present, and connected engagement within the creative process. Ultimately, the intensive is rooted in the development of perceptual awareness, authentic communication, and nervous system regulation.

Butoh and Bodyweather are approached as gateways — living inquiries through which action, expression, and connection arise. Bodyweather was first developed by the celebrated Japanese dancer and actor Min Tanaka, who was choreographed by Butoh originator Tatsumi Hijikata.

Participants are invited to step into openness and exploration — where mistakes are not failures but vital signals, and experimentation becomes a tool for discovery. Collaboration becomes a practice of attunement between bodies, environments, and imagination.

Hosted by Scandinavia’s oldest independent film and theatre acting school, KFTS, this eight-day intensive unfolds in the heart of Copenhagen. Guided by Lynch & van de Ven, the space becomes a dynamic laboratory for practice-based research. Here, the body is explored as both a sensory landscape and a performative force. Through rigorous physical training, improvisational scores, and refined perceptual practices, participants cultivate sensitivity, transformation, and a grounded yet expansive stage presence.
