FOCAR 2026, an intensive training programme focused on choreographic creation in relation to architecture, available in online or online + on-site formats.

FOCAR is a training programme promoted by Instável – Centro Coreográfico, dedicated to choreographic creation for informal, public, private and collective spaces.
Interdisciplinary and intensive, the programme intersects contemporary dance, performance and architecture, encouraging critical and artistic approaches to space.

In 2026, FOCAR can be attended through two distinct modalities:

FOCAR Online
A theoretical and conceptual programme focused on critical, methodological and conceptual frameworks for choreographic creation in relation to architecture.
This modality constitutes a complete course in itself and may also be attended as the first phase of the FOCAR Online + On-site programme. It does not include on-site sessions or public presentations.

FOCAR Online + On-site
Combines the full online programme with an intensive on-site practical component in Porto, focused on research, experimentation, site-specific creation and public presentations in architectural spaces.

FOCAR offers direct contact with diverse artistic methodologies and supports the development of original choreographic projects through both reflection and practice.

Alessandro Carboni, Ana Figueira, Catarina Miranda, Frank Williams, Gabriela Vaz Pinheiro, Gustavo Ciríaco, Luiz Antunes, Mary Copple, Paula Chang, Pedro Azevedo, Space Transcribers, Tânia Rodrigues and Willi Dorner.
(Some tutors participate in the online programme, others in the on-site component.)

FOCAR Online: €250  FOCAR Online + On-site: €1,100 + €180 (registration fee, mandatory and non-refundable) Payment in four instalments is available, with an additional total cost of €100 compared to the full payment.
