ŻfinMalta, the National Dance Company of Malta is looking for a dynamic and experienced Artistic Coordinator to join its team working closely to realize the vision and mission of ŻfinMalta.

The Company Artistic Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining the artistic integrity of company locally and on tour and manage the ensemble of dancers including their health and wellbeing needs.
The right candidate will have a true understanding of the company’s repertoire, extraordinary attention to detail and the drive never to compromise the artistic work.
The candidate will be an excellent communicator and manager, a positive and creative problem solver and thrive working under pressure.
The applicant must have the ability to care for an extraordinary group of professional dance artists, as well as work as an integral part of a strong and efficient company team.
The Artistic Coordinator will work closely with the Artistic Director and will be responsible for all aspects of the work performed by ZM, most importantly ensuring that the work is accurately presented as it was created, in every venue that the Company performs in.
The candidate will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of the company dancers, which will require flexibility and creativity as well as the ability to effectively prioritize a wide range of duties and take initiative.
This role will suit an exceptional dancer or rehearsal director who is looking to be an asset in the development of a vibrant young organization.
The Artistic Coordinator will:
rehearse, coach, train, mentor and ensure that the standard and quality of the work, dancers and company is not only maintained but developed to the highest level organize rehearsal schedules
be responsible for dancers’ workload and day to day schedule in relation to company policies regarding dancer working practices
liaise with Osteopath and Physiotherapist locally and abroad
be the first point of contact for the visiting artists
rehearse the repertoire of the company and work alongside the Artistic Director and Guest Choreographers to learn the choreography, take notes and videotape rehearsals to ensure he/she knows the work and all roles in the work fully and is able to restage it as necessary
teach roles in the work to existing and new dancers
assist the Agency Administrator and Producer on overseeing all elements of touring to ensure all logistical aspects of each tour are covered
work closely with the Technical Director to ensure that artistic elements of each production are of the highest possible standard in every location inform the Artistic Director of any additional activity taken on by dancers during contracted weeks as well as information about all activity taken on during non-contracted weeks
develop a class strategy that is appropriate to build and develop the physical potential of the dancers
schedule appropriate teachers to teach nationally and internationally, liaising with them making sure that they have the right to work in
A clear commitment to and knowledge of the work of ŻfinMalta National Dance CompanyExtensive professional dance training and rehearsal, touring and production experience
Experience of assisting a choreographer with rehearsal direction at a professional level
Exceptionally organised and methodical, with strong attention to detail
Good spoken and written English
Efficient and self-motivated with excellent planning skills, with the ability to deal with multiple tasks at once
Ability to act on own initiative but also to work as part of a team and build strong working relationships
Personable and a highly confident communicator, with the ability to maintain good relationships with a wide range of people
Ability to work flexibly and manage a busy and changeable schedule
Ability to work under pressure, with a positive and creative attitude towards
Experience of teaching within a professional environment
Current involvement with the professional dance sector
Degree qualification or equivalent in a related field
Computer skills, including basic knowledge of Excel
First aid trained
Job title: Artistic Coordinator

Salary: 24.000€ to 27.000€ per annum depending on experience
Hours: This is a contract for service. The role is a 6-day working week when the dancers are on contract and a 5 day working week when not. Hours will vary when on tour and the post holder will be required to work the hours necessary to carry out the duties in the job description in relation to touring with the Company. Evening and weekend work will also be necessary on tour
Probationary period: This probationary period is 3 months during which time the notice period required by either party is 1 week. The probationary period may be extended for up to a further 3 months. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, the notice period becomes 6 months
