The educational program of the 15th Dance Days Chania is inspired by various choreographic cultures. From Finland to Canada and Ivory Coast, Europe and national productions, dance and performing arts artists come to Chania from July 21 to August 2 to share knowledge, inspiration and creative tools.

12 Workshops, partnering, contemporary dance technique, improvisation, research, composition, repertoire, classical dance, soft acrobatics, dance through the camera, etc. offer opportunities for expanding physical boundaries and kinesiological practices, for interactions and creative dialogues. They propose interpretive tools aimed at physical awareness, sensory awakening, empowerment, enhancement of adaptability, artistic development, enjoyment, wholeness, balance. The section “Meet the Choreographers”, which this year consists of 6 masterclasses, comes dynamically to form a framework to connect those interested with the work of invited choreographers and aims to give space to holistic artistic approaches.

The workshops and masterclasses are addressed to professionals, students of dance and theatre schools, amateurs, educators and the local community. To every person who wants to get to know and relate to their body, but also to interact creatively with other bodies by discovering the joy that dance offers.
This year’s event includes 20 performances, 12 workshops, 6 masterclasses (“Meet the Choreographers”), a section “New Creators and Public Space”, a 2-day Video Dance section, an exhibition from the educational programme “My body speaks”, a transnational artistic residency and other events in the city.
“Dance Days Chania” is organized by the “Syn-Kinisi” Association of Expressive Dance since 2011 with the voluntary work of its members and receives the EFFE Label certification from 2017 to 2025 by the European Festivals Association. Co-organizers of the 15th edition are the Region of Crete – P.E. Chania, the Municipality of Chania, as well as the J. F. Costopoulos Foundation financially supports the section “New creators and public space”.
