How can the creative potential of the skin be activated through movement? In her workshop, Virginie Roy, dancer, dance pedagogue and clinical psychologist, explores how we can use working with the skin to deepen our knowledge of movement, the creation of movement and the exploration of the dynamic quality of the skin. The skin is the largest sensory organ of the human being and its membrane to space and others. Changing its elasticity, playing with the body‘s tone and its states of tension is a way to a simple, released dynamic that is more like the body being in motion than a „made“ movement. A form of mental ease emerges that comes close to what one likes to call „flow“. Individually, but also in groups, using texts, improvisation, learned movement material and the examination of somatic practices, the participants will experience together an intense state of being in the generation of movement, in the perception or reflection of movement. The aim is to experience a different dimension of alertness and to directly touch the unknown to experience new perspectives with regard to a future artistic-choreographic practice.
