With nearly half of the world’s population currently living under quarantine due to the global health crisis, we invite you to create a work of screendance up to 3 minutes long (maximum) filmed at home, indoors or in your garden/yard by May 11 by tweeting a public link to @FestVidDanceFr with the hashtag #VideHomeDance (if you don’t have a Twitter account, you can also send us a Youtube or Vimeo public link via e-mail at the address below and we’ll post it on social media for you).

Our Video Dance Center of Burgundy will select ten films to be exhibited on our Numeridanse videotheque page (https://www.numeridanse.tv/), beginning on May 15, 2020.

Quarantine, strangely enough, can be an excellent opportunity to explore the possibilities of screendance, the roles that place, space, and architecture play in its construction. A reduced space can inspire a metamorphosis of representation with infinite possibilities thanks to the camera, editing, and movement. Be creative with the constraints of confinement and non-traditional spaces for dance, re-imagining them for their choreographic possibilities (i.e. don’t clear away the furniture to recreate a studio feel – instead use the furniture, walls, stairways, objects and anything else at your disposal!).

All styles of dance and filmmaking are welcome – improvised or choreographed, edited or not, with or without effects, solo or with the entire family, filmed using any type of camera from webcams to smartphones…the choice is yours! If you plan to use music in your video, please do not include copyright protected compositions. You can find music and sounds that are free to use on sites like www.archive.org or by searching for public domain sounds and music.

Participants will be notified of the ten selected videos prior to the May 15 virtual launch.

Until then, stay well! And stay home!
