In this transformative workshop, participants will engage with both traditional indigenous and non-western practices, while also embracing diverse movement traditions to decolonize their bodies. By questioning influences on our body perception, this experiential journey combines somatic and ritualistic practices and improvisation, offering a profound exploration of embodied experience. Through heightened awareness and sharing my artistic principles, I aim to awaken innate creativity and facilitate the process of body decolonization through movement. The workshop takes the form of an open jam session, encouraging free-flowing exploration and expression.
This practice offers spiritual solace by reducing stress, promoting clarity, and optimizing breath and energy utilization. Participants will contribute their unique sounds to harmonize thoughts with the collective group consciousness. Drawing inspiration from natural elements like thunder, light, fire, and wind, expressive gestures and movements such as jumping, touching, stopping, and running challenge preconceptions. The practice aspires to transcend stereotypes and cultivate liberation in both the physical and mental realms.
