The Motion Pack are seeking two experimental dancers/movement artists with confidence in using text and/or song to join the collaborative team for the research and development residency of ‘In the Silence of Blossom’ in West Wales.

Led by Billy Maxwell Taylor, The Motion Pack strives to create meditative movement worlds using textural dance theatre, embodied acrobatics, poetic text, music and design. ‘In the Silence of Blossom’ ponders on the seasonality of life, interweaving exploration of presence and absence in our social and ecological existence. How we drift from friends, reconnect with memories and hear birdsong where it was once silent.

We are keen to connect with Welsh, Wales-based and Multi-lingual artists in the UK willing to experiment with improvisation, voice and site-responsive work in the rural landscapes of Pembrokeshire. We will only respond to applicants living in the UK.

This residency will be a communal research space at The Penquoit Centre near Kilgetty, working with a 4 day workweek and collaborating in both creation and living, creating a mini-village. Email with the subject “ITSOB Application: YOUR NAME” containing the following: an up-to-date CV (PDF preferably). a short paragraph (max. 200 words) or a short 2 minute audio/video message expressing your interest in applying for the project. An up-to-date showreel with a focus on dance/movement. A 1 minute video of you speaking a piece of text (a poem, novel, monologue) or singing.

Following receiving applications, we will invite shortlisted artists to a 30 minute video interview to discuss more about your practice and your interest in the project, alongside answering any queries artists have. Shortlisted artists will be notified by the 15th September.

We will have notified the 2 successful artists by the 22nd of September. We shall notify all artists who have applied whether they have been successful or not.
