1 Day Workshop in the frame of WinterTanz Workshops 2024/25 & Satellites, in cooperation with the Berliner Festspiele as part of thePerforming Arts Season

This workshop facilitated by Cecily Campbell will be a deep exploration of Trisha Brown’s kinetic universe and compositional mind. With a sharp focus on detail and a wild celebration of movement, participants will experience the vast range of dynamic within Brown’s work and discover their own curiosities within.
The morning session begins with a warm-up emphasising the coordination of alignment, breath, and weight to bring space, direction, and flow of energy through the joints. With an emphasis on developing a shared spatial awareness among the group, participants will use improvisation to generate sense for play, responsivity, and directionality.
In the afternoon, the group will continue to move into full-bodied phrase work from Brown’s choreography “Glacial Decoy”. In learning this delicious movement, the dancers will draw on internal and external geometries (both imagined and real), challenging themselves to take risks and discover new depths of dynamic through a rigorous study of movement itself.
This workshop takes place in cooperation with the Berliner Festspiele as part of the Performing Arts Season.
