TOWARDS CI51 Thailand Contact Improvisation Conference PART 2.
Gathering to celebrate the 51 year anniversary of Contact Improvisation in the heart of South East Asia.
The conference is a meeting point for practitioners of CI from Asia-based communities and beyond. A space for inquiry, artistic exchange, intense practice and collaboration.
Where: Chiang Dao, Thailand
When: 26 may – 8 June 2023
Deadline for applications: 20 May 2023
It is an opportunity to connect with the practice and wider community, reshape and deepen shared understanding of Contact Improvisation by considering its history and development since its inception in 1972.
Formats include workshops, intensives, classes, laboratories, lectures, performances and jams.
For this year’s conference, we invite collective inquiry on how we can make a safe, clear and inspiring space dedicated to Contact Improvisation.
How can we – teachers / organisers / experienced practitioners, take care together beyond our own territory of dancing / teaching / organising?
There will be a scholarship program to support those who wish to participate but cannot afford to do so due to financial circumstances. The conference supports environmental projects run by the local community, both in the form of financial contributions and experiential education.
