Each day will start with a class, followed by creative research and the study of choreographic material from Tom’s work. We will put our skills to practice and deepen our research, cultivating different sources to move from and increasing our awareness of the body as a whole. We will focus on strengthening and softening, inviting conversation and tuning in to the body’s various potentials of expression.
Tom Weinberger, is an independent dancer, choreographer, educator, and Artistic Director of Nuova X.
In 2005, he joined Batsheva Dance Company under the artistic direction of Ohad Naharin and in 2012, he became a founding member of L-E-V directed by Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar. He later became Rehearsal Director for L-E-V, staging their work on dance companies around Europe and North America. While with Bathsheva, Tom began choreographing within the framework of “Batsheva Dancers Create”, and in 2014 his first solo work won the International Solo Tanz Theater Festival (Stuttgart) which continued to tour through South America and Europe. Tom has gone on to create works for critically acclaimed companies such as GoteborgsOperan Danskopnai, NDT2, Luzerner Tanz Theater, Iceland Dance Company, NSP2 (Norway), Ate9, and more. As an educator, Tom, has been teaching and staging in institutes such as Netherlands Dans Theater (2009 – 2019), Springboard dans Montreal, B12, Arts Umbrella, SF Conservatory of Dance, The Maslul Bikurei Haitim, Gaaton Workshop, Taipei School of the Arts, Jerusalem Academy, Hollins MFA Program, Gaga Intensives, NOD, Ballet Akademin Stockholm, Suny Purchase, Tanz mainz, Garteplatz and more.
