Our muscles are an intelligent and multi-layered spiralling network with elastic and contractile properties that perpetuate us as we move through space, express and interact with our environment. In their inherent and inseparable connection to the fascia, they function as sensory organs – reporting, responding and feedbacking with the nervous system. Their marvellous coordination and ability to increase and decrease tone contribute to our overall tensegrity (Tensional Integrity) as we move through life. Adding a variety of textures and characters to our dance.
In this weekend workshop, we will explore, sense, and experience the muscles in dance improvisation, hands-on, somatization and embodied anatomy, physiology and embryology.
