When: 26 August to 2 September 2019

Deadline for applications: 15 April 2019

From 24 August to 21 September 2019, the Akademie der Künste, Berlin is planning a performative exhibition on the topicality of dance heritage under the title “The Century of Dance”. The central starting point for the project is a master class for international students, who will address modern dance both in practice and theory in lectures, talks and performances. The master class will be accompanied by an overall programme of performances and debates.

In the context of the master class, topics such as the creation of documents and their translation into movement, sampling of sources and materials, movement observation following specific historical role models or a somatic approach to the dance history of the 20th century will be conceptualised with international artists and contemporary witnesses. Anne Collod, Reinhild Hoffmann and Martin Nachbar will facilitate an exciting workshop programme using various practical formats on Isadora Duncan, Dore Hoyer, Mary Wigman and others.
