This ten-day Summer Residency / Artist Intensive explores experimental approaches to voice and movement and will focus on breath and gravity alignment, the articulation of physical and psychical states in performance and somatic vocalisation in order to develop a textural approach to performance (suitable for advanced level movers).

Guillermo Luis Horta Betancourt is a Cuban based dance artist with a 40year history of facilitating integrated experimental voice and movement. His work is globally celebrated through VABAS (voice+awareness+body=awakening+synchronisation), and he has taught and performed in Korea, Japan, Cuba, Mexico, India and the UK. Guillermo’s approach is focused on the integration of rhythmic training, release based movement and somatic awareness. This workshop will centre on breath and gravity alignment, the articulation of physical and psychical states in performance and somatic vocalisation. Suitable for dance and voice-based artists.
