Intensive with Pau Aran, dancer and choreographer who worked for fifteen years with Tanztheater Wuppertal – Pina Bausch and collaborates internationally with leading contemporary dance artists.

Where: Barcelona, Spain

When: From Monday to Friday, August 3 to 7, from 10 am to 1 pm

Deadline for applications: Until August 2, 2026

Atelier is my pedagogical proposal, born from my trajectory as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher. I understand the dance studio as a space for experimentation, learning, and the construction of creative identity.

The proposal is based on the observation of bodies and the desire to transmit to new generations the knowledge acquired alongside leading figures of contemporary dance. At the same time, it seeks to generate new forms of communication and a shared physical language.

My methodology is grounded in the compositional elements of dance—energy, form, space, and rhythm—drawing on the influence of the Jooss-Leeder method, and focuses on breath, repetition, and directional oppositions.

Pau Aran Gimeno (Barcelona, 1981) is an artist who lives and works between Germany and Spain.

Born in Cerdanyola del Vallès, he began dancing at the age of ten at Roger’s school and later at Company & Company in Barcelona, where he trained in ballroom dance, jazz, modern dance, classical ballet, and contemporary dance. This eclectic foundation shaped his early interest in a hybrid and open language.

He completed his training at the Real Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Mariemma in Madrid and, in parallel, with Francesc Bravo and Cristiane Boullosa; he later joined the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen, following the recommendation of Malou Airaudo, with whom he also trained.

At the end of that same year, he joined Tanztheater Wuppertal – Pina Bausch as a permanent dancer, where he worked until the end of the 2019/20 season. For fifteen years, he performed more than twenty-five pieces from Bausch’s repertoire, deepening his understanding of the richness and complexity of her scenic language. He has since remained connected to the company as a guest artist and became part of the transmission team of the Pina Bausch Foundation, contributing to preserving and continuing the legacy of the German choreographer. During this period, he worked closely with key figures
