The Workshop “Action, Observation, Change”
Payatt INtransit is a practice that uses physical training to delve deeper into all aspects of ourselves.
The practice helps us identify our coded behavioral patterns, decide whether or not they are serving us, and train the ability to choose what patterns we want to follow. During Payatt INtransit classes, we testourselves by passing through difficult situations and personal challenges that help us move towards a state of lightness and freedom in all we do. The word Payatt comes from the ancient Indian martial art Kalari Payatt, a technique that organically prepares the body to be ready for any activity. INtransit implies that we are always “on our way” or “in transit” towards our individual goals as a performers, artists, and people of any profession or passion .
We’ ll use yoga, prana, kundalini and contemporary dance methods such as release techniques and
improvisation tools are used to find ease and freedom in our movement, and playfulness in our creative tasks.
All these lineages interweave to create a structure that allows you, the participant, to dive deep into your personal work during a Payatt Intransit class.

JOS BAKER 4 hors per day for 5 days
Peeping Tom, DV8 Physical Theater
He also teaches internationally, offering a range of classes and workshops for professional dancers at intstitutions including SEAD, Ballet Junior de Geneve, PARTS Summer School, Trinity Laban, The Place, Amsterdam Theatre school, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Codarts, Deltebre Dansa, El Danseu Festival, Ravnedans, Henny Jurriens Summer Intensive, Jetsummer, Staatstheatre Kassel and many others.

The workshop
Physicology works, with a combination of analysis and experimentation to develop a deeper understanding of the physical, psychological and evolutionary principals that effect human movement. The work looks at ways of deepening physical and intellectual understanding of how movement can work while also developing tools to handle some of the psychological factors that can hold us back in learning and in performing. These principals are then expanded through both fixed material and improvisation, building to richly detailed, technical and highly physically dance phrases.  As the classes develop the emphasis turns to performativity and musicality while keeping a fun and high energy spirit of exploration.

Creative tools is an exploration of ways of making material for stage performance. Exploring physical extremes and characterisation; this workshop will look at ways of creating scene ideas using theatrical and physical tools, and then on how to develop and refine those ideas.  How does a dancer approach character, how does a character dance?  We explore methods of generating material that play with the personality, image, and the strengths and weakness of the individual in the attempt to find unique and specialised material.  Much of this work is inspired by Jos’ experience working with Peeping Tom.
