Not just a summer intensive — Phoenix 2026 is a company-style summer residency for serious dancers seeking intensive training, repertoire work and stage experience in an international setting.

Organised by Salzburg Academy for Dance Arts (SADA), Phoenix 2026 combines daily technique classes, coached repertoire, ensemble rehearsals, artistic guidance and stage preparation. Across two or three weeks in Salzburg, participants work towards the Dance Gala ‘Spotlight 2026’, culminating in two public theatre performances at Theatre Odeïon Salzburg.

The programme is designed for dancers ready to engage seriously with ballet, contemporary dance, modern-based movement practice, repertoire and stage work. It offers a rare opportunity to move beyond the usual summer workshop format and experience a structured rehearsal process closer to a professional company environment.

Training may include classical ballet technique with Vaganova and Cuban influences, contemporary and modern-based movement practice, repertoire and variation workshops, musical-theatre based performance work, individual artistic coaching, somatic practice, dance science, full-cast rehearsal work and stage preparation. Planned repertoire elements may include selected classical ballet excerpts such as Paquita, ensemble work based on Peter Breuer’s Bolero, contemporary material, musical-theatre based sections, character dance material and further choreographic contributions by SADA faculty and guests.

Phoenix 2026 is recommended for dancers with a minimum of three years of training in ballet, contemporary or modern dance. Age 13+. International participants are welcome.

SADA is especially interested in strengthening male-identifying representation within the performance cohort. Male-identifying dancers are strongly encouraged to apply; selected applicants may receive around 60% off the Course Fee.

Participants may be invited to audition for SADA’s Dance Vision Vocational Programme.
