Balbir Singh Dance Company (BSDC) is recruiting dancers specialising in Contemporary or Classical Indian dance to join its Resilient Dancer Programme.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic and creative journey from October 2024 to March 2025, over 10 weekends (20 days total), with potential additional performance opportunities.

The programme will involve gaining insight into Balbir’s approach to engaging artists and taking them on a programme of creative growth through interdisciplinary collaborations across BSDC’s strands of work:
– Celebrating Age
– Sport & Art
– Classical Revisited
– An Appetite for Dance

Dancers will develop skills, knowledge and understanding in a holistic approach to the arts with such projects as:
 Creative Approaches to Health and Wellbeing:
·      Unmasking Pain (Durham University and Thomas and Guys Hospital, London)
·      NHS Cancer Alliance Breast Cancer Survivors
·      Beamish Museum, Clover Cottage dementia project
·      Green spaces and environmental connection

Development of existing and new BSDC repertoire:
– Ramayana, a retelling through numbers
– Captured
– Indian Biscuits, Tea and Cricket
– Outdoor performances

There will also be a focus on Person Centred Care, Mental Health and Wellbeing through Trauma Informed Practice Training

Details
10 weekends October to March 2025, 20 days in total, dates to be scheduled
Fee £2500 plus expenses if based outside the Yorkshire region. There
may be additional paid performance opportunities.
