After 20 years our cherished performance coordinator / rehearsal director is leaving because he has reached his retirement age.

We are looking for a rehearsal director who can artistically produce, coordinate and rehearse our performances and presentations. The rehearsal director is also in charge of the coordination of the educational module that leads up to the Professional Creations project for three study years. In this specific module you connect a team of creative dance artists (choreographers, rehearsal assistants, students) with the production department, costume designer and technicians.

As performance coordinator you will become part of the teaching team of Dance Artist.
All activities take place in close cooperation with the head of the department.

The academy
ArtEZ Academy for Theater & Dance offers various programs in the field of Dance and Theater and is characterized by its individual-oriented education. The department
Dance Artist, the bachelor program for contemporary dance at ArtEZ University of the Arts, trains dance artists with a solid physical and theatrical background that will enable them to define their own position in the dance field.
Performing, co-creation and creation go hand in hand during the three years the students spend at the academy.

Dance Artist produces yearly appr. 25 performances created by both professional choreographers and students. The performances range from pop-up performances on location to the yearly so called Professional Creations. Choreographers we work with have a broad range, the last and coming  year we have been working a.o. with  Joy Alpuerto Ritter, Miguel Altunaga, Ann van den Broek, Anouk van Dijk, Caroline Fynn, Faizah Grootens, Julio Iglesias Ungo, Dalton Jansen, Maciej Kuźmiński and Jefta Tanate.

REQUIREMENTS
•       The position requires organizational, creative, didactical and inspirational skills. You have to be alternatively a teamplayer and a teamleader;
•       You can connect with the perceptions of students and colleagues from different (cultural) backgrounds;
•       You are able to give the students a warm-up before the performance, either in ballet or a contemporary style;
•       You have excellent communicational and didactical skills and a passion to coach young artists.  You are willing to invest in Dutch examination procedures as part of the job, when necessary;
•       You have at least three years of experience as a rehearsal director at a company and preferably experience in working in a professional educational system.

In the function you represent the school and the values we embrace.
Knowledge of the Dutch language is a bonus, however we are an English speaking education. Also a bonus would be a driver’s license and a broad network.

The position is between 0,5 FTE and 0,6 FTE, with varying working hours and days. During the Professional Creation and audition period the workload increases until full-time hours. Depending on your artistic background it might be possible to incorporate teaching into the position.

Our offer
You will have a temporary contract of 1 year for 0,5 FTE or 0,6 FTE, with varying working hours and days. With good performance, there is the intention to change your contract to a permanent contract. The gross monthly salary is minimum € 4.234,28 and maximum € 5.936,77 (Tutor B, scale 11) based on a 36-hour working week. Besides an informal and open working atmosphere, we offer attractive terms of employment according to the cao-hbo, such as a vacation allowance of 8%, a year-end bonus of 8.3% and good study and development opportunities.
