Shaquille George are looking for open-minded queer and non-queer people of color who feel connected to exploring ancestral power through movement and research.
Where: Dansateliers, Rotterdam, The Netherlands
When: Working session will be on the 16th of December
Deadline for applications: 1st of December
About the project:
Nos Bida is a call to remember. It’s a chance to reclaim erased histories, to centre queer Black voices, to bring together a community to share stories and to dance to something deeper, together. Nos Bida began as a personal journey of Shaquille George. It started as their solo performance: a way to explore memory, identity and ancestral connection through movement. This fall ‘25 Shaquille travels to West Africa and Curaçao to set the next step for this research. From 2026 on, Nos Bida is evolving into a collective research project.
This research creates space for collective remembrance, resistance, and healing with other queer and nonbinary artists of colour.
The research period is eight days between 16th of Feb 2026 till 1st of March 2026 (payment conforms CAO). It will be half working days, 10H till 15/16H, with an Open Studio presentation at the end of the residency period.
Who are we looking for:
We are looking for open-minded queer and non-queer people of color who feel connected to exploring ancestral power through movement and research. This process will be explorative, collaborative, and rooted in dialogue.
Both dance professionals and interns are welcome to apply — no formal educational background is required, only commitment and curiosity.
Shaquille is seeking people who feel a call to action, who are ready to invest in their own growth while engaging with challenging themes. We welcome dancers who can hold space for one another with care, communicate clearly, and contribute to building a safe and transformative working environment.
How to apply:
Send a small introduction to who you are and what motivates you to join this project. Express why and how you resonate with this theme and what you want to contribute to the collective sources of this research.
In addition send a short video (max 3 minutes) expressing your movement quality. (preferably uploaded with a link to the video)
Deadline for the application is the 1st of December
