Noyes Rhythm is an improvisational dance practice, closely related to nature, with a large body of technique exercises built on developmental movement patterns. The summer program is an immersive experience with balanced programming that includes classes in technique and improvisation with time for rest, creative process, and reflection.

Dancers live in platform tents and dance to live piano music in the Pavalon, a historic open-air studio. Programming runs for 6 weeks and most dancers come for one week (Sunday to Sunday). In 1919, Florence Fleming Noyes established Shepherd’s Nine as the summer home for her school, and there has been continual summer programming for the last century.
