Northern Connections provides a platform and support for emerging choreographers based, living or working in the North of England. We are looking for artists with real ambition and original ideas to develop new work as part of our programme for 2019.
Selected artists will receive funding for a 3 week studio residency with their dancers at Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD). Artists will have access to: production support (technical, marketing, PR), mentoring and feedback from NSCD and partners, and the opportunity to build relationships with invited producers and programmers.
Previous artists include Carlos Pons Guerra (nominated for the 2016 UK Critic’s Circle National Dance Awards in the category of ‘Best Independent Company’), Jamaal Burkmar (Winner of the New Adventures Choreographer Award) and Gracefool Collective (Winners of the Underbelly Untapped Award for ‘innovative new writing’ at Edinburgh Fringe).
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly encourage applications from disabled artists, and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) artists.
Northern Connections is funded through the National Lottery and delivered by NSCD in partnership with Spin Arts Management and Yorkshire Dance.
