Muğla Butoh is a 3-month, multi-guide laboratory in a rural village—40 km southeast of Fethiye—bringing together 10 Butoh guides for rigorous, immersive practice, with options to attend for one week, one month, or all 3 months. 3 meals per day covered.

The following Butoh guides are invited to the space at various points throughout the 3 months to engage in dedicated Monday thru Friday, 25 hours per week Butoh practice.
Momo (USA)
Butoh artist and somatic educator with 40+ years in embodied performance, who lived and performed in Japan with Kazuo and Yoshito Ohno.
Joan Laage (USA)
Seattle-based Butoh pioneer (Kogut Butoh) who studied in Tokyo under Kazuo Ohno and Yoko Ashikawa. Performed with Ashikawa’s Gnome troupe in the 1980s.
Ken Mai (JP/FI)
Japanese-born Butoh dancer based in Helsinki, trained with Kazuo Ohno in the 1990s. Integrates Butoh with martial arts, yoga, Zen, and modern dance in over 30 countries worldwide.
Lyze Damour (FR)
Paris-based Butoh artist with roots in contemporary dance and early professional work in Brazil. Founder of Collective BIG!, creating inclusive, site-responsive performances informed by therapy and art-therapy.
Rita Soma (ES)
Nomadic performer with a background in physical theatre, practicing Butoh since 2016. Her work explores shadow and light, giving movement to unseen realities and hidden dreams.
Alessia Mallardo (IT)
Italian Butoh dancer and dance therapist bridging movement, psychology, and sensory research.
Paul Michael Henry (SC/IE)
Irish dancer, musician, and performance artist based in Scotland, blending Butoh, punk, and ritual. Founder of UNFIX and PhD researcher exploring identity through ecological and interdependent perspectives.
Tebby Ramasike (NL/SA)
South African choreographer and founder of TeBogO Dance Ensemble, creator of Afro-Butoh. Studied with Yoshito Ohno and Carlotta Ikeda; based in the Netherlands since the mid-1990s.
Cinthia Patiño (MX)
Butoh dancer and director of CRISOL Arte del Cuerpo Escénico in Mexico City.
Sara Zalek (USA)
Transdisciplinary Butoh artist, producer, and curator whose intimate, poetic work explores trauma, resilience, and transformation through performance and immersive workshops.
