NOD has reopened with a bang!
Micheael Loehr will enrich the first quarter of the 2020/21 International Contemporary Dance Program from October 19 – October 30.
Where: NOD Nuova Officina della Danza Torino
When: October 19 – October 30
Deadline for applications: As long as there is space
Michael’s work as a teacher is highly influenced by his experience as a performer. His workshop consists of three main elements:
1) A warm up that is intended to quite literally raise the body temperature in order to facilitate the flow of oxygen, to improve the efficiency of muscle contraction, and to soften the dancers’ bodies and free their articulation in order to prevent injuries.
2) A floorwork and movement phrase section that focuses on functionality and energy efficiency, so that the dancers can eventually approach choreographic structures without preoccupation and let their dance break free.
3) A choreographic lab, that challenges the participants awareness and responsibility, and encourages them to move freely inside a complex multi-layered environment with a clear set of choreographic rules.
By increasing the dancers’ skills to process information and by encouraging them to make decisions, the choreographic process is turned into a playful game.
For everyone’s health and safety NOD requires that each participant have a serological COVID-19 test no more than 3 days prior to the start date.
