THE INSTRUMENT: WORKING WITH RHYTHM AND SOUND WITH MAYA M. CARROLL

Maya M. Carroll | The Instrument: working with Rhythm and Sound
Evolving ways of listening; this workshop highlights our perceptive hearing of sound and sensing of timing and rhythm as dancers. Revisiting these aspects in depth allows them to play a significant role in how we specify flow and punctuation while composing dance phrases, sequences and pieces. These elements meet at the junction of instantly composed work, towards which we will aim our study as we unveil choreographic constellations.

Maya M. Carroll is an independent choreographer, performer, mentor and teacher, based in Berlin since 2004. In the past sixteen years Maya has created over 30 works from solo to extended group pieces. She leads masterclasses and workshops in Europe and abroad, extensively developing her teaching methods alongside her artistic work. Her performance is anchored in the meeting point between the tangible and imagined; reality and myth, drawn from and towards the limitless expression of the dancing body.

Additionally we are also offering evening courses in Gaga, Improvisation, CI, Contemporary, Ensemble Thinking, Ballet and Gyrokinesis:
