Jakub Zeman “Inspire by Fighting Monkey” – Tanzwerkstatt Europa 2024. Fighting Monkey is an applied practice for human development through movement founded by Linda Kapetanea and Jozef Frucek aiming to understand the principles of movement, communication and the ageing process.

Where: Studio F Studio Schwere Reiter Dachauer Str. 114 80797 Munich, Germany

When: 30. July – 3. August 15.00 – 17.00 H

Early bird: If you book a workshop until or on June 14th, 2024 you don‘t have to pay the registration fee.

This workshop with Jakub Zeman, long-time Fighting Monkey trainer, focuses on fostering independence and the ability to take responsibility for one’s own development. Participants will explore new ideas about the health of organs and joints, how the different expressions of life are linked through rhythm and how rhythm can improve the physical performance. Also, the workshop will help them to understand how stress and pressure can influence perception, behavior and movements.

Jakub Zeman will provide guidelines on how to increase the health of the spine, joints and connective tissue in various contexts and how the participants can become more versatile in their approach to warm-ups prior to trainings and performances. He will challenge speed, memory, the ability to coordinate, collaborate, and make fast decisions even when everything seems to go wrong. This is achieved through movements that provoke improvised, sudden and unexpected connections that may break existing limitations.

For the All Levels workshop, a comprehensive dance and movement education is not necessary. The exercises are always co-created by the whole group and adapted to both reflect and challenge the skills of all participants. Participants can expect a slightly higher complexity and pace during the workshop for Professionals.

Jakub was born in Czech Republic and has his background in martial arts, capoeira, dance and sports. Since 2015, he has studied the Fighting Monkey technique with Linda Kapetanea and Jozef Frucek. Movement and dance as the essential means of human communication, expression and development form the core of his research and teaching. As a Fighting Monkey teacher, he seeks to create a meaningful practice and practical philosophy that supports his students in their ever changing life circumstances. Jakub enjoys working with a wide range of people – artists, athletes, healers, coaches and people who like to move.
