Through the applied practice of Fighting Monkey, Jakub Zeman invites participants to explore how movement can cultivate one’s own development, as well as physical and cognitive health.
Where: Tanztendenz München e.V., Lindwurmstraße 88, 80337 Munich, Germany
When: 05 – 09 August 2025
Fighting Monkey is an applied practice for human development through movement founded by Linda Kapetanea and Jozef Frucek, aiming to understand the principles of movement, communication, and the ageing process.
This workshop, led by the experienced Fighting Monkey teacher Jakub Zeman, focuses on fostering independence and the ownership of one’s own development.
Through playful movement situations, engaging in physical and cognitive challenges and reflective rejuvenating practice, a dynamic, living learning environment is cultivated.
Participants can investigate how rhythm connects different aspects of life, how it contributes to physical performance and supports overall structural health and youthful elasticity. Also, they gain insights into how regulated stress and pressure can positively reshape perception, behaviour, and movement patterns.
Jakub introduces strategies to increase the health of the spine, joints and connective tissue in various contexts and guide participants in developing more versatile warm-ups for trainings and performances. Through movements that provoke improvised, sudden, and unexpected connections, participants are challenged in speed, memory, coordination, collaboration, and decision-making under pressure.
For the All Levels workshop, a prior dance and movement education is not necessary. The exercises are always co-created by the group and adapted to both reflect and challenge the skills of all participants. The Professionals workshop is characterized by a slightly higher level of complexity and faster pace.
Jakub was born in Czech Republic and has his background in martial arts, capoeira, dance and sports. Since 2015, he has studied the Fighting Monkey practice with Linda Kapetanea and Jozef Frucek. Movement and dance as the essential means of human communication, expression and development form the core of his research and teaching. As a Fighting Monkey teacher, he seeks to create a meaningful practice and practical philosophy that
