An intensive 2-week Intimate and poetic body in Public Space workshop, where we will immerse ourselves in how we approach the creation of a work of art in the public space, with the body as the primal material, and how at the same time we can keep the intense and poetic atmospheres in that environment.
The workshop will contain:
A) Practical / physical work with the body in the studio and in 5 different public locations.
B) Theoretical approach, presentations of other artists and group processes, for the understanding of the tools and the issues of the public space.
C) Final presentation of the work in progress of the participants, on the last day of the workshop.
Where: Transcendance (Polixenis Antoniou 4str, Thessaloniki, Greece) and public spaces of Thessaloniki

In this workshop we will work simultaneously with body, mind, collaboration between the participants and theoretical approaches.
In the studio we will work with some common tools: how I improvise, how I move in the present, how I create through instant composition, staying in contact with my personal material, but also with the material of the environment, but also how I involve my poetic body in improvisation .
In the public space we will work the observation and the engagement with the field, the semiology of the space, the composition with its materials, the correlation with its history, and how we place ourselves as performers inside it.
In theory we will cover some approaches to public space and see artistic examples, and then, through a group process we will make our own “navigation map”.
The final presentation will be co-created based on the ideas of the participants.

It concerns artists / professionals who want to immerse themselves in artistic creation in public spaces.
It is addressed to: dancers, circus artists, actors, performers, fine artists that want to use their body as a starting point. Participants can come from any artistic field, as long as they have contact with physical expression. The workshop will be inter-disciplined, for the participants to share with each other.
