This one-week intensive focuses on NEOBALLET technique, FORSYTHE repertory as well as GRAHAM repertory.

ActDance Studio Paris offers the students one intensive per term to be assessed. It is a first-hand experience with professionals and creators of the performing arts at a working pace specific to dance companies. The intensives will be led by guest-artists, who are themselves working in dance companies, and will focus on the technical, artistic and human potential for every student.

The first intensive of the year will bring NEOBALLET technique, FORSYTHE repertory as well as GRAHAM repertory. Marie-Christine Devineau, therapist for artists and specialist in Posture, will accompany Virginia’s or Rafael’s class each day and comment on aspects of dance technique, artistry, and health.

MONDAY November 18th – FRIDAY November 22nd:
* 1-3pm : NEO-BALLET class / by Virginia Hendricksen.
Pointes work welcome but not mandatory.
* 3-5pm : FORSYTHE Repertory / by Virginia Hendricksen.

Study of Acts of Light (1981)

SATURDAY November 23rd:
* 4-7pm: warm-up, rehearsal and showcase of the Forsythe and Graham repertory.

BIO OF TEACHERS:
– VIRGINIA HENDRICKSEN, former demi-Soloist with the Royal Ballet of Flanders. She was a member of William Forsythe’s Ballett Frankfurt from 2001-2003. Mr. FORSYTHE has generously given her permission to teach his repertoire. Since 2017, she has been invited to teach internationally and has been working as a choreographic Assistant and a Ballet Mistress. She has set ballets on Ballet Zurich, Ballet Flanders, Atlanta Ballet and Les Ballets de Monte Carlo.
– RAFAEL MOLINA, former member of Graham 2, Graham technique teacher and founder of Graham For Europe. He works as a freelance contemporary dancer and an assistant choreographer for Cie IFunamboli Paris. He is involved in a research project on Graham educational practices, funded by the Centre National de la Danse.
– MARIE-CHRISTINE DEVINEAU, former ballet dancer and trained in Actors Studio with Jack Garfein, specialist in Posture. She has worked as a therapist for soloists and corps de ballet at the Vlandereen Ballet (Artistic Director Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui), at the Zurich Ballet (Artistic Director Christian Spuck) as well as at the Ballet du Capitole de Toulouse (Artistic Director Kader Belarbi). She will work in the next school year for the KBA, the Royal Ballet School of Antwerpen.
