OPEN CALL FOR DANCERS & MUSICIANS

In Austria’s theater landscape, classical and contemporary dance, as well as music, often take center stage. Recognizing this, artistic directors Farah Deen and Olivia Mitterhuemer see it as their responsibility to support professional artists from street and club cultures by providing them with a platform to increase their visibility. This mission drives the creation of Flavourama Performatory, now in its fourth edition.

Who Are We Looking For

— We are seeking six street and club dancers (Hip Hop, House, Popping, Locking, Waacking, Voguing, Breaking, and related styles), and three musicians who can play unplugged/acoustic (all genres welcome!).  —

This Open Call is aimed at artists who are eager to explore their performative skills and push creative boundaries. Selected artists will take part in a performance walk at the Museum der Moderne Salzburg, bringing street and club dance into new artistic contexts and fostering connections with other art forms. Additionally, the program aims to support professional development through knowledge exchange and valuable input from experienced workshop facilitators.

After joining two workshops by Mackenzy Bergile and Jordina Millà on different theatre related topics, each trio will then have approx. two hours to create a 10-minute performance, drawing inspiration from one specific artwork by Jaqueline Mesmaeker, whose work is currently exhibited at the Museum der Moderne Salzburg.
The performances will take place during a performance walk in the evening within the exhibition, directly engaging with the selected artworks. A host will guide the audience through the exhibition, where the three performances will unfold in a pop-up format, offering a dynamic and immersive experience.
