Dutch National Opera & Ballet is seeking a Director for Het Nationale Ballet (Dutch National Ballet), for a term of five years, commencing in the spring of 2026.

Het Nationale Ballet consists of approximately 90 dancers, including 12-15 young talents in our own training program for which we founded the Junior Company. Each season, we present 120-130 performances, both in our theatre on the Amstel and on international tours. Our company is highly acclaimed nationally and internationally for the distinctive qualities of our dancers and the versatility of our repertoire.

A three-member management team leads Nationale Opera & Ballet (NO&B): the General Director of NO&B, the Director of De Nationale Opera (DNO) and the Director of Het Nationale Ballet (HNB).
As the director of HNB, you are responsible for all aspects of the ballet company’s artistic and business policymaking. This includes overseeing programming, production preparation, budget management (€22 million), performance management and personnel management for the ballet departments. You also initiate external collaborations and represent HNB within the broader arts community. In this role, you work closely with HNB’s business manager, the deputy artistic director and the deputy director of talent development.
