A concentrated introduction into Emanuel Gat’s methodology, inviting dancers and choreographers to experience choreography as a shared practice.
Where: EDEN, Berlin, Germany
When: 07/08 March 2026 (10 hrs)
Decentralized Choreography Workshops (DCW) is a platform dedicated to sharing Emanuel Gat’s choreographic practice, offering a wide range of creative tools and the underlying philosophy that powers his unique approach to choreographic making.
This 2-day intensive offers a concentrated introduction to the fundamentals of the decentralized approach to choreography through various processes developed over more than 30 years of creative research and practice. Participants will gain first-hand access to the mechanics and philosophy behind Emanuel Gat’s approach, allowing for both an embodied experience of the creative tools and insight into the thought processes that underpin the practice.
The intensive will be facilitated by Michael Loehr, who for the past 17 years has been a close collaborator of Emanuel Gat, working as a performer, co-creator, choreographic assistant, stager, and workshop facilitator.
Running from 10:30 to 16:30, the intensive includes a structured warm-up and a one-hour lunch break, with the remaining time fully dedicated to working within Emanuel Gat’s choreographic practice.
