Art and design collective ‘Demystification Committee’ is looking for a dark-skinned female dancer, possibly with a shaved head or short hair, to shoot a
Where: London, UK
When: 12 or 19 January 2019
Deadline for applications: 28 December 2018
The shooting will take place in a TV studio in North Greenwich, between 1—6PM, on the 12 or 19 of January 2019, depending on your availability. We can pay 300£ for this time.
The short film, a tale of growth and death by accumulation, will be shown in design festivals around Europe. You’ll be the only character in it and metaphorically impersonate “capital”, the protagonist of the film. For the first half of the scene you’d stand still, performing some small head movements — your character is being introduced.
In the second half, your character is in a frenzy, a dance of accumulation that cannot stop. You’ll improvise some nervous dance moves, borderline Butoh to give you an idea — but you don’t need to be a Butoh dancer as we’re keen to discuss with you the direction and feel of the dance.
As per pic attached, we’re seeking to recreate a “plastic” skin-effect, possibly in post-production. To achieve this a make-up artist may be on set to apply a see-through body gel from the chest up, requiring you to be partially nude for the purpose of the shooting (it won’t show in the film). Alternatives are to wear a dark bandeau bra or a dark latex suite – do mention if you own the latter, as we are interested in the look and feel of latex in relation to the effect we are trying to achieve.
We’re looking forward to work with you!
To apply, please send a recent photo of yourself, tell us a little about your dance experience and indicate which day you’d prefer for the shooting. Please mention if you either dance butoh, have a shaved head or own a latex suit.
