I don’t define myself as a choreographer in the traditional meaning of the word. I like finding different ways to connect and work with each dancer.
I’m Daniela Lucato and I’m glad to share my success story through Dancing opportunities. I’m Italian but I live in Germany. I’m an actress/director that works both in theatre and film. Parallel to the theatre studies I have been training in contemporary dance and attended many workshops both for actors and dancers. Over the years my approach to dance and personal research changed in a very experimental way. I don’t define myself as a choreographer in the traditional meaning of the word. I like finding different ways to connect and work with each dancer.
In 2015 I founded the platform Connecting Fingers Company: I work and collaborate with dancers, actors, performers, writers and musicians. Since 2015 I directed Connecting Fingers, When I dance ( the documentary where Connecting Fingers company has also been featured), The Wheel Performance, The Wheel Short Film, Unsaid Things, The rebellious Body and Sex in Translation (now in progress).
When I found the FIDCDMX festival’s open call on Dancing Opportunities I immediately thought it would be a great platform to present my work “The Rebellious Body”. I submitted the solo created as a part of the Trilogy, “The Wheel” by Connecting Fingers Company. “The Rebellious Body” consists of two different solos, one with Roberta Ricci, that was part of Performing Arts Festival in Berlin for Sunday Solos in UrbanRaum and another solo with Nicola Campanelli that was selected in Mexico City for FIDCDMX.
Nicola was very enthusiastic about the experience in Mexico. He built a lot of new connections and had the opportunity to see the work of many professional dancers/companies from all over the world.
We are very thankful to dancingopportunities.com for this big opportunity that inspired us and encouraged to go on!
