Where: DanceXchange, Birmingham, B5 4TB, UK

When: Mon 4th October 2021

Deadline for applications: 23:59 17th September

Daniel Lukehurst’s Various Creations is looking for a dancer to take part in their latest project, Ta/To/Me. Using dance, theatre, & music, Ta/To/Me highlights the stigma around men talking about their emotions and the impact this has on their mental health, promoting talking as a way for men to better cope with the pressures they face.
For this phase of Ta/To/Me, DLVC are looking for a dancer to play the role of an ambiguous figure that helps the main character see their life in a new light. You will take part in a 1-week rehearsal period that will culminate in a sharing in front of invited guests, and will have the opportunity to gain Level 1 in Mental Health First Aid.
DLVC currently only have funding to support this current phase of the project, but intend to apply for more funding in the future. As such, while we can only offer work for the period described, there will be the opportunity to continue working on Ta/To/Me in this role in the future, including on a tour of the piece.

What DLVC are Looking for
– Strong contemporary dance technique
– Strong contact work
– Experience of working with text, and delivering text in a live performance
– Experience of working in a community context, ideally with people living with poor mental health
While the piece focusses on male mental health, DLVC recognises the positive values of diversity, promotes equality, and challenges discrimination. This role is open to all, and welcomes applications from people with a disability, people from ethnically diverse backgrounds, and people of any gender and sexuality.
