About the role

As a Repetiteur, you will:

– Manage a portfolio of allocated work, including designated productions, from the studio and in rehearsal to performance as required, working to the highest standards, and across a range of choreography and repertoire.
– Support the dancers in development of their artistry technique and their learning, development, preparation and performance work through class, coaching and supervision; provide additional support to designated dancers through mentoring and pastoral care.
– Support the implementation of expected standards of behaviour, as outlined in the Agreement of Conduct for Dancers and the Artistic Team, when interacting with dancers, guests and creatives, leading by example.
– Manage own workload effectively and develop positive working relationships.
– Manage own continuous development and support a culture of continuous improvement.

Your main responsibilities as Repetiteur will be to:

– Develop and hone the in-depth skills and knowledge to work across the allocated portfolio of artistic work, which may include taking class, taking or leading rehearsals either in the studio or in production, working with choreographers, and monitoring performances
– Support, nurture and develop the vision of the Artistic Director across all allocated work
– Assist choreographers and producers in the staging of new work, record and document changes in choreography as required
– Support the maintenance of dancers’ technique by providing general training (class) to an outstanding level
– Work on the allocated productions, choreography, and lead on rehearsals or class as notified by the Artistic Manager, and as scheduled by the Artistic Scheduling Manager

Key Selection Criteria

As a Repetiteur you will need to demonstrate that you have:

– Substantial experience of working with a leading professional ballet company and with dancers at all levels; this may be gained either with the company or as a guest.
– A strong track record in teaching a varied repertoire of classical and modern work with a reputation for achieving a very high standard of performance work and artistry.
– Experience of leading class and building technical skills, strength and resilience.
– Ability to create a work environment where dancers can develop and give their best work.
– Ability to operate effectively within a touring company, with an understanding of planning and lead times for rehearsing.
– Ability to lead by example in managing own learning and continuous professional development for the role.

Shortlisting of applicants will be done according to the listed key selection criteria, and you will be requested to respond to each point.   Following shortlisting, auditions will take place over two days on-site at English National Ballet at the Mulryan Centre for Dance.  The audition will include teaching classes and a rehearsal, reviewed by a panel.
