“I work from the principle that our bodies and minds are vessels for holding, expressing, communicating and experiencing. They are unique to each one of us. We are channels for ideas and emotions.”Clare will draw on her many years of performance and life experience to share her evolving methodology in devising visceral and engaging physical theatre. These sessions are distinct and incredibly dynamic. A synthesis of dance, life, theatre and the imagination.
Whether you are a dancer, an actor or someone with a deep hunger to move and explore, this crafted week of movement sessions focuses on finding new narrative forms of movement. Each day takes a different unusual journey. Sweaty and thoughtful! Clare will share tasks and exercises that give movers a chance to express themselves truthfully and that provoke a creative, unusual and intelligent response.
Imaginations, voices and bodies are trained to work efficiently, on our own and with others. Each day we ask probing questions and have a different technical focus. How are we affected by music? Which movements create different emotional states? How can the voice, text and musicality be used with the body to express narrative?? As the intensive progress, we will layer the ideas and work towards producing a more complex performance. Each individual’s unique stories, strengths and background will help direct the way the workshop progresses. We play between technicality and freedom, the improvised and the choreographed, the serious and the playful.
Clare is a firm believer that given the right creative environment, performers can access intelligent and unknown places within themselves that lead to both personal and professional development.
