17 dancers and 3 choreographers will be selected to work with Alex Ketley, Lillian Barbeito, and Ballare Carmel company members in an extraordinary week-long fellowship culminating in a performance at Hidden Valley, An Institute of the Arts.

This program was created to provide the next generation of dancers and choreographers with an exceptional research atmosphere, rehearsal time and space, mentorship, and community-based financial support in order to foster talents and careers. Tuition for this program is generously sponsored by patrons of Carmel Dance Festival, Ballare Carmel’s umbrella company. YES, that means participation is FREE. Up to twenty dance artists will be selected for a comprehensive week-long program including progressive ballet, Countertechnique, Hot Mess (Alex Ketley’s ever-popular class), Ballare Carmel repertoire, rehearsals, choreography feedback sessions, and a performance. This fellowship also serves as an opportunity to experience Ballare Carmel’s working atmosphere and be considered for future employment opportunities as a dancer and/or choreographer.

The fellowship program will be held at Hidden Valley Music Seminars, a bucolic, eight-acre site nestled in Carmel Valley just 12 miles from the beach. The campus is known as an educational supersite – an exceptional place for learning.

Fellows are encouraged to reside at Hidden Valley Music Seminars during the fellowship program and can arrange room & board (private or shared room + 3 meals per day) directly with the campus for $700-$1100 depending on the room.
