Thousands of traditions around the world undertake a ‘rite of passage’ ritual for boys to transition to young men – challenging their mind and guiding their growth. But what happens when this honour is stripped away, elders leave and you carry the weight of the world?

Does connecting to the masculine, understanding ancestors & building brotherhood impact identity and the path you choose? Three men battle internal conflict as they struggle to find themselves in an unbreakable alpha society. This explosive but sensitive piece combines elements of parkour with tricking (acro-martial arts), physical theatre and dynamic contact contemporary dance to convey their story.

SS is a 25 minute adaptable site-specific ‘parkour dance theatre’ piece performed in public spaces. By embodying an authentic ritual it brings back ceremony to community places and transforms everyday environments into sacred space. Ritual is an embodied sensory sequence that symbolically and physically marks a transition of life including the making of meanings, values and purpose. SS takes the audience on an archetypal journey and connects to world-wide cultures.
