Where: Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds, UK, or by video audition

When: Sunday 29 May

Deadline for applications: Midday, Wednesday 25 May

This professional placement option is an exciting opportunity to work with CEO & Principal of NSCD and former Artistic Director Phoneix Dance Theatre, Sharon Watson MBE, to develop and perform work that extends beyond the theatre space in projects that form part of Leeds 2023, a landmark year of culture for the city.

Over the course of one intensive year, students will embrace cross-sector creativity and multidisciplinary practice to produce a body of artistic work which engages the alternative, including:
– Outdoor work
– Mass participation work
– Working with non-dancers

Through professional development, and work with creative partners, the programme aims to support dancers who wish to build artistic significance in the communities we work and live in.

Study will be through a practice-led approach to performance over a period of 10 months. Students will receive workshops/masterclasses and talks from leading creatives, in addition to intensive creation and rehearsal blocks on a project basis, studying Technical practice, Rehearsal modes, Company practice and Performance practice.

All dancers are enrolled on the 1-year MA in Contemporary Dance Performance, delivered by Northern School of Contemporary Dance and validated by the University of Kent.
