Arbola, the festival that celebrates the culture of trees, opens an OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS AND CULTURE PROFESSIONALS residents in European countries to participate in its International Residency Program.
Between 3 and 6 projects related with tree culture will be selected for a 10-week residency in the context of the next edition of the Arbola festival which will take place in May 2024 in Pamplona (Navarra).

The residencies will take place from 19 March to 30 May 2024 at Antartika Kultur Container, a space for culture and social activism located in the centre of Pamplona (Navarra), Calle Mayor 53 .

Only one project per person will be accepted, with a maximum of two participants per project. The selected projects will receive work space, mediation, mentoring and financial support with a total of 2,500.00 euros per resident, and will also have travel and accommodation expenses covered.

The selected projects will have a public presentation in the form of a talk, workshop, open studio, walk, etc. within the context of the Arbola festival during the month of May.

The Program will offer the participants the opportunity to develop their projects in a context of collaboration with the Arbola/Labea/Antartika team, the local community and with the other resident projects strengthening thus the character of Arbola as a meeting space.

Arbola works on the subject of contemporary tree culture in a transectoral way and from different perspectives. It, therefore, welcomes all types of contemporary culture professionals (artists, curators, communicators, academic researchers, producers, etc.), of all types of artistic disciplines (live arts, visual arts, literature, music, audiovisual, etc.).

We welcome research or creation residencies, and we will value in a positive way proposals that are in an intermediate or final phase, and that have some kind of intervention and/or interaction with the territory. These characteristics may add points but are not essential.

Projects can be submitted from 05 September to 01 October 2023, and between 07 and 10 October personal interviews will be held with the highest score projects for the final selection.

At the end of this form, you can also send us other proposals related to art and tree culture that you would like to apply for the 2024 or 2025 Arbola festival programme.

The Arbola International Residency Programme is a project of Labea – laboratory of art, science and nature (www.labea.net) and Antartika Kultur Container (www.antartika.org) carried out with the support of the European Union through the Creative Europe Programme and the institutional collaboration of Innova Programme – Fundación Caja Navarra, Fundació “La Caixa”.
