A 10-day journey in dance, discussion & connection – participants will be immersed in the movement world of the Birds, ANIKAYA’s Conference of the Birds ensemble as we usher in the New Year in Bangalore, the capitol of contemporary dance in India.

ANIKAYA Birds Intensives immerse participants in the movement world of the Birds, ANIKAYA’s Conference of the Birds ensemble. Participants learn the movement vocabulary and approach of five individual Birds, as well as experience the entangling practices that brought these very different artists into one deeply connected flock. Each program is anchored in a place that offers us unique insights into the history of human movement, and that provokes important conversations about our constructions of identity, community, history and the present moment.
The combination of the practices of the Birds who will teach in the Birds Intensive – India 2025 will address and expand our relationship to space, time and each other.
The second ANIKAYA Birds intensive will take place at Play Practice Residency in Bangalore, India, hosted by Play Practice Residency, a center for cross fertilization and experimentation in dance in Bangalore, the capital of contemporary dance in India.
This program is open to ages 18 and up. Spaces in the program will be limited and early applications are strongly encouraged. We will welcome participants from anywhere in the world, and will hold a minimum of five spaces for local and regional dancers.
