Ana Maria’s class uses imagery, sensations, and various improvisation tasks that lead the participants to access the detailed articulation of their bodies, and their imagination. The driving force behind the
class is curiosity, honesty, wonder, active decision making and listening, and the abandonment of judgment. There is no good, or bad, only the poetry of surprise and play in relation to time, space, rhythm, and the group dynamic. The class is open to movers of all levels.
Using the class as a preparation for the repertory part of the day, we
will dissect some of Ana Maria’s previously made solo and group work, indulging a tasting of Ana Maria’s specific movement vocabulary. From there we will take those segments and tailor them to fit the current group and individuals actively engaging in the room.
