Fundación PRISMA Danza is now accepting submissions for the 6th edition of PRISMA–International Contemporary Dance Festival of Panama, to be held in Panama City from October 8 to 15, 2017

Interested companies, dance groups or independent choreographers should send their proposals (video submissions) by December 31st, 2016 (12:00 am Panama time). ONLY THE FIRST 500 PROPOSALS RECEIVED WILL BE CONSIDERED.

PRISMA is an independent project for the promotion and development of contemporary dance in Panama. The Festival is in its sixth year.
The festival also includes a strong educational program with free master classes and workshops to create a platform for artists of different nationalities to connect, encouraging bonds between them and strengthening ties among our cultures. We wish to encourage local choreographers, and create a public that appreciates contemporary dance.
Basis for participation:
To be considered, participants must send the following via email before December 31st, 2016:
The proposals can be theater-based, or in alternative spaces.
- Entry Form (in our web-site)
- A video of the entire work to be presented (vimeo or youtube, please; no other formats will be accepted). TRAILERS OR TEASERS WILL NOT BE EVALUATED.
- Information on the submitted work (choreographer, dancers, interpreters, music, length, technical requirements, etc.)
- Brief bio of the company, if applicable
- Choreographer’s Resumé
- Three Photos (high resolution jpeg) of the submitted work
- The Workshop/Master class proposal
-The length of the work must be between 20 and 60 minutes. Pieces shorter or longer will not be accepted, nor will combined pieces to meet the required length.
Be aware that depending on the submissions, the possibility exists for two or maximum three works to be presented on the same night.
Each company may submit a maximum of two (2) works for evaluation by the Selection Committee
Process of Evaluation and Response:
– A Selection Committee composed of 5 professionals will evaluate submissions received, and we will communicate its decisions to all participating parties on the last week of February.
The festival will cover the following expenses for the participants:
1- Professional fees **
2- Lodging (3 hotel nights)
3- Per diem for meals and basic expenses for 3 days ($25 / day)
4- Internal transportation, from and to airport, and whenever necessary
THE FESTIVAL WILL NOT COVER AIRFARES
** The monetary compensation provided by the Festival to each company or dance group will be agreed upon beforehand according to the format of the work (solo, duo/trio, group work) and will not be more than $4,500 (for groups of 6 or more dancers); payment will be handed out as soon as the performance concludes.
WHEN RECEIVING APPROVAL FROM SELECTION COMMITTEE, THE COMPANY/CHOREOGRAPHER NEEDS TO CONFIRM ITS PARTICIPATION BY APRIL 30.
Master Classes and Workshops:
Each selected company or group is requested to teach at least one master class or workshop in the Festival’s available spaces.
