OpenFLR 2018 is an intensive dance lab in which three internationally acclaimed choreographers (Dunja Jocic, Sebastien Perrault and Uri Shafir) and the emerging talent João Cidade (the latter selected through an Open Call) will work with recent graduates and professional dancers for two weeks.
During this time, each choreographer will devise a new piece for the participants, to be presented in a theatre in Florence on the 17th of July 2018, open to the public.
Where: Firenze (Florence), Italy
When: 2nd – 17th of July 2018
Deadline for applications: 18th June 2018, for scholarships 15th April 2018
After an initial day of meet and greet and professional seminars, for the following four days, each choreographer will lead a half-day workshop, for her/him to get to know the participants and vice-versa. Each choreographer will then select the participants she/he wishes to work with for the creative process, which will take place until the final presentation.
Throughout the workshop, participants will be offered two daily warm-up classes to prepare to work with the choreographers. This year’s program is comprised of GAGA with Uri Shafir, Contertechnique with M. Eugenia Demeglio and TBA. The warm-up classes are also open to professional dancers/ recent graduates who are not participating in the creative processes. Please contact us in case you’d like to attend – we offer multi-class deals and concessions.
Moreover, following the success of the previous editions, a choreographer will organise and lead an extra performance for the participants of OpenFLR. This improvisation performance will take place in the streets of Florence, and it will happen half-way the intensive. OpenFLR is happy to announce that this year the Site Specific Performance will be lead by Elisa Zuppini (OpenFLR Young Talent 2016), in collaboration with Murmuris and Spikisi. NOTE: the process and the performance will be open also to other participants than those to OpenFLR 2018. If you would like to participate, please contact us.
